The emirate of Dubai celebrates 17 years of the visionary leadership of Sheikh Mohammed. The federal government has witnessed many achievements and key changes during Sheikh Mohammed’s leadership.

Seventeen years ago, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, assumed responsibility for the Council of Ministers.

As stated by a Twitter post by the Dubai Media Office, under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the following has happened:

Sheikh Mohammed states that the emirate of Dubai fought financial and administrative sluggishness, became the most effective government in public spending in the world, as well as increased the state budget by more than 140%.

The statement said that foreign trade in Dubai showed a jump from AED 415B (USD 113B) to AED 2,200B (USD 599B).

Sheikh Mohammed also said that the emirate’s gross product doubled during the same period, reaching over AED1,800B (USD 490B).

Today, Dubai leads the world in more than 186 global indicators, and leads the region in more than 430 regional indicators. In addition, the emirate has the highest sovereign financial rating in the region, while the UAE is the first country in the region in the ease of doing business.

The government has changed to become the most financially efficient and the most capable of keeping pace with global changes.
