Global Power City Index, also known as GPCI, ranks the cities in accordance with their power to attract people, enterprises and capital from other countries. Six parameters are taken into account such as:

The ranking shows the strength and development of the cities, and it’s worth noting that the top four cities which include New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo haven’t changed their status since 2021.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, stated that the improvement of Dubai in the GPCI ranking is a reflection of the leadership vision to turn the emirate into the best place in the world to live, visit and work. He added that the achievement shows the strength of the cultural environment of Dubai as well as its inclusive development which leads to the well-being of the residents of the emirate who belong to over 200 nationalities. Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum has also added that Dubai had become a bridge between markets and cultures, and the emirate promotes engagements between people and institutions from all over the world.

At the same time, Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and a member of the Dubai Council, has stated that Dubai has created an integrated strategy aimed at the consolidation of its positions as a city of choice for consumption, cultural practises and experiences.

During the first ten months of the year, over 11.4M overnight visitors from other countries came to Dubai. As the Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies stated, the response of the cities within the Index on the pandemic was also taken into consideration, as it transformed economics, cultural activities, working methods and lifestyles. Dubai was the first location to be reopened for foreign visitors since the beginning of Covid-19, and it created a convenient environment for Expo 2020, which is a world-known event that took place from October 2021 to March 2022 and was extremely successful at attracting visitors from all over the globe. As the institute mentioned, these achievements led the emirate to the 3rd position in the sub-parameter of the Tourist Attractions within the parameter of Cultural Interaction.

The development of the emirate, as well as its appreciation by foreigners wishing to experience harmonious living with access to endless amenities and facilities, has and continues to lead to a high demand of real estate units. Among the most recently launched projects which have already attracted the attention of potential investors and foreigners wishing to move to Dubai, are Farm Gardens and Seascape by Emaar Properties, Ocean House by Ellington Properties and The SEA by Sobha Realty.
